Tibet 西藏



Tibet Autonomous Region, located in the southwestern part of China. To the south-west of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Between longitude 78° 25' to 99° 06', latitude 26° 44' to 36° 32' with Area of more than 1,200,000 square kilometers, accounting for 1/8 of the country’s area. More than 4,000 meters above sea level, there is the "roof of the world" which makes the main part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It bounded with Xinjiang to the north, Qinghai in the northeast, Sichuan to the east, Yunnan Province to the southeast, south and west there are Myanmar, India, Bhutan, Sikkim and Nepal. With nearly 4000 km border line connecting China with the South Asian subcontinent. A large number of huge mountain chains, plateaus, lakes and a boundless forest are spread all over the place. Administrative Region of Tibet comprises 1 locally administered city, 6 districts, 1 county level city, 70 counties, 1 county level district, 2 county level offices, 899 townships, 31 towns. Autonomous Region’s capital city is in Lhasa.

There have been a growing number of scientific investigations proving that the Tibetan plateau level is changing. However, these changes in shape are not taking place overnight. On the other hand, it is a very slow changing in the earth's crust over millions. In recent years the main peak of Mount Everest in the Himalayas has shown that the plateau has also kept rising.

Tibetans are primarily engaged in agriculture and animal husbandry. Urban residents are more engaged in handicrafts, industry and trade. Tibetans believe in Tibetan Buddhism, warmness, cheerfulness and brightness. Religion in Tibet enjoys a long and profound impact on residents (other than the Han) the majority are religious believers. Tibetans, the Men Ba, the Lhoba all believe in Tibetan Buddhism. The Hui Believe in Islam. Tibetan Buddhism is a Mahayana Buddhism, with heavy reliance on Mantra. Since the 4th century Tibetan Buddhism and outside Buddhism had long-term impact on each other, struggle each other in the process of maintaining a strong local color as the Tibetan Buddhism which has been in the domination for more than 1,000 years. In addition to the original teachings which are established in this area, there has been a number of independent religious sects formed. There are "Nyingma" (commonly known as the Red sect), "Sagya" (commonly known as the flower sect), "Kagyu" (commonly known as the White Sect) and "Gelug" (commonly known as the Yellow Sect). Since the 16th century, Tibet implemented religious political system in terms of people's ideology, or in the people’s ordinary life carrying a very strong religious (Buddhist) color. Religion has become a big integral part in the life of Most Tibetans.

Tibet is located in the south-western China, where both the unique scenery of snow-covered mountains and the charming southern style. A natural integrated landscape which gives the Tibet a truly unique charm in the eyes of travelers. until now, there are many Tibetan customs of life far away from modern people. Tibet undoubtedly is very exciting and its high mountains can accelerate people's heart beat frequency, so that the mountain climbers have to use their bodies and minds to experience it. If you think of traveling in Tibet, it is best to prepare a state of mind. You will never have a similar experience in your life: The place, the people, the history, the culture and beliefs.
