Most of the Valley edge elevations are more than 500 meters. The difference between the two is 7400 meters and only compared in China to the Tibet and Xinjiang.

Sichuan's climate is complex and ever-changing. Western part is Sichuan’s western highlands and eastern part is Sichuan’s Basin. Plateaus cover an area of two-thirds of the province, an area of about 360,000 square kilometers. The basin accounts for only more than 200,000 square kilometers. Sichuan includes three Autonomous Prefectures: Aba, Ganzi and Liangshan. Pilin in the eastern part of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau stands at an altitude of 3000 meters or more above sea level. Alpine Valley features a vertical climate. High altitude mountain areas have a very cold climate; severe winter will have temperatures of around 2 degrees Celsius to 20 degrees below zero and the winter lasts for as long as five and a half months. June to September is the rainy season. November to March the following year is the dry season. During the dry season midday temperatures can reach 32 degrees Celsius. Plateaus have more than six hours of sunshine, blue sky set off green grass and green trees, beautiful scenery.

"Lush fields, Prosperous people... vast fertile area, rich and plentiful, a heavenly place” 2000 years ago during the Han Dynasty writer Liu Xiang in his "war policy" had this description of Sichuan. Since then, Sichuan had the exclusive title: "Land of Abundance."To live in this beautiful and richly endowed land, Sichuanese created a splendid long lasting Ba-Shu culture. This culture and China’s other regional cultures are all important parts to form China’s culture. In year 1986 Guanghan in Sichuan discovered the Tristar piles ruins which proved to be more than 4,000 years old. The Ba-Shu culture has been gradually formed on a considerable scale over the long course of history.

Countless number of scenic spots, various local customs and styles, the beautiful Kangding love songs, the endless local special flavors and colors... “Land of abundance” the meaning extends here for infinity.
